We are pleased to present a dedicated 3-day webinar series exploring the transformative role of hydrogen in building a sustainable, resilient, and integrated European energy system.
Across three focused sessions, leading experts and innovators from European hydrogen initiatives will discuss key developments, challenges, and future opportunities in:
16+18 June: 14:00–15:30 CET
17 June: 9:30-11:00 CET
Online Webinar Series (Link will be received after registration)
This three-part webinar series explores how the different building blocks of Europe’s emerging hydrogen economy are coming together to support the transition toward a more sustainable, resilient, and climate-neutral energy system.
Beginning with regional hydrogen clusters as the initial drivers of industrial decarbonisation, the series then examines how hydrogen-ready gas distribution networks can connect these emerging hubs and enable the reliable delivery of hydrogen across Europe.Building on these foundations, the final webinar focuses on liquid hydrogen applications in transport sectors with particularly high energy demands, highlighting how hydrogen infrastructure and innovation can support the decarbonisation of heavy-duty mobility, maritime transport, and aviation.
Together, the webinars provide a connected perspective on how regional cooperation, infrastructure readiness, and practical end-use applications must evolve hand in hand to enable Europe’s hydrogen transition.
Europe’s transition towards a climate-neutral, competitive and sustainable economy depends not only on European policy frameworks, but also on strong implementation at regional level. In this context, regional clusters and hydrogen valleys play an important role in translating strategic objectives into concrete projects, investments and cross-sector cooperation. They bring together industry, research organisations, public authorities and infrastructure actors to accelerate the deployment of clean energy solutions in real-life settings.
Within the framework of the European Sustainable Energy Week, this webinar highlights how regional cooperation models can support Europe’s sustainability goals by fostering innovation, strengthening value chains and enabling the market uptake of hydrogen-based solutions. By bringing together representatives from HEAVENN, Hy2Market, ELEVATEcee and HI2, the session will provide practical insights into how different regional initiatives contribute to decarbonisation, resilience and sustainable economic development, while identifying lessons that can support replication and collaboration across Europe.
Agenda (90 minutes)
1.Welcome and introduction – Hans Rasmusson, ERIG
2.Role of hydrogen valleys and regional clusters in delivering European sustainability – Horst Steinmüller, WIVA P&G
3.Practical cases and examples from Hydrogen Valleys and Regional Clusters
4.Interactive Q&A and Wrap up – Hans Rasmusson, ERIG
Background and rationale
The second webinar examines the critical role of gas distribution grids in enabling the hydrogen transition, drawing on the work of the Ready4H2 initiative. The session highlights how existing gas infrastructure can be converted and adapted to safely and efficiently deliver hydrogen to industry, transport and buildings. Research demonstrates that future hydrogen demand will be widely distributed across Europe, including in regions far from transmission backbones. Distribution grids will therefore be essential in connecting end users and ensuring a resilient, inclusive and sustainable energy system.
The webinar brings together European distribution system operators, technical experts and members from the Ready4H2 project to share research insights, practical experiences and lessons learned from hydrogen conversion and deployment projects across Europe, with a focus on how hydrogen infrastructure can accelerate the transition to a cleaner and more sustainable future.
Agenda (90 minutes)
1.Welcome and introduction – Aloma Reus, Ready4H2
2.Ready4H2 Project research insights – Barbara Jinks, Ready4H2
3.Project experiences from the Ready4H2 Members
4.Interactive Q&A and Wrap up – Barbara Jinks, Ready4H2
Background and rationale
In this final webinar, we will explore how liquid hydrogen (LH₂) can support the transition toward a more sustainable and climate-neutral transport system, particularly in sectors with high energy demands and intensive operational requirements. While different clean mobility solutions are emerging across the transport sector, applications such as heavy-duty road transport, maritime operations, and aviation require energy carriers with high energy density and operational flexibility — areas where liquid hydrogen is increasingly emerging as a promising solution.
By bringing together representatives from the NavHyS, DelHyVEHR and VHyTTA project, this webinar showcases how liquid hydrogen technologies and infrastructure contribute to the reduction of emissions across, land, air, and sea transport sectors – advancing a more resilient and sustainable energy future.
