EUSEW – Sustainable Energy Days Ready4H2 – ERIG webinar series
As Europe accelerates its transition towards climate neutrality, hydrogen is emerging as a key element of the future energy system. To support this transformation, the European gas research and innovation community is bringing together experts, industry leaders, infrastructure operators and (…) in a dedicated webinar series organised by the project Ready4H2 and the European Gas Research Group (ERIG) within the framework of European Sustainable Energy Week 2026 and the Sustainable Energy Days.
This three-part webinar series explores the interconnected dimensions of the future hydrogen infrastructure, transport and deployment of hydrogen. The three sessions will focus on liquid hydrogen, the readiness of gas distribution networks, and the development of regional hydrogen ecosystems and clusters. Together, the sessions will provide a comprehensive overview of how the hydrogen economy is being built.
One of the series objectives is to highlight the importance of collaboration across the entire hydrogen value chain. From enabling infrastructure and system planning to regional cooperation and market development, the webinars aim to showcase practical experiences, research findings and real-world projects that are shaping Europe’s hydrogen future today.
The webinar series will take place online on 16, 17 and 18 of June 2026, from 14:00 to 16:00 CET each day.
Registration
While each webinar addresses a different dimension of the hydrogen value chain, the series is designed to demonstrate how these elements are deeply interconnected. Hydrogen production and transport solutions require adaptable infrastructure; infrastructure deployment depends on coordinated planning and regional integration; and successful regional ecosystems rely on collaboration across industries, networks and policymakers.
Webinar 1 – Liquid Hydrogen
The first webinar focuses on the current liquid hydrogen technologies explored under ERIG projects. The session will explore technological developments, infrastructure needs and market opportunities linked to scaling liquid hydrogen applications and strengthening the future hydrogen supply chain.

Webinar 2 – Hydrogen Readiness of Europe’s Gas Distribution Networks
The second webinar examines the critical role of gas distribution grids in enabling the hydrogen transition, drawing on the work of the Ready4H2 initiative. The session highlights how existing gas infrastructure can be converted and adapted to safely and efficiently deliver hydrogen to industry, transport and buildings.
Research from the Ready4H2 project demonstrates that future hydrogen demand will be widely distributed across Europe, including in regions far from transmission backbones. Distribution grids will therefore be essential in connecting end users and ensuring a resilient and inclusive hydrogen system. The webinar brings together European distribution system operators, technical experts and project members to share research insights, practical experiences and lessons learned from hydrogen conversion and deployment projects across Europe.

Webinar 3 – Regional Hydrogen Clusters
The final webinar explores the emergence of regional hydrogen clusters as key drivers of industrial decarbonisation, regional economic development and the scalation of Europe’s hydrogen economy. The session focuses on how cooperation between industry, infrastructure operators, local authorities and research organisations can accelerate hydrogen deployment, stimulate investment and demand creation, and create integrated regional hydrogen ecosystems. Hydrogen clusters can play a central role in developing viable hydrogen markets and strengthening Europe’s emerging hydrogen economy.
